Please read these terms carefully before booking a repair. They outline our commitments to you regarding warranties, pricing, and our “No Fix, No Fee” policy.

1. Agreement to Terms

By booking a service, handing over a device, or accepting a quote from Tech Fixer Canberra (“we”, “us”, or “our”), you (“the client”) agree to be bound by the terms and conditions outlined below. These terms apply to all onsite mobile services, remote support, and workshop repairs conducted within the ACT and surrounding NSW regions.

2. “No Fix, No Fee” Policy

We proudly offer a “No Fix, No Fee” guarantee. This policy is defined as follows:

  • If our technicians are unable to correctly diagnose the fault with your device, you will not be charged for the labour.
  • If we diagnose the fault and offer a viable repair solution, but you (the client) choose not to proceed with the repair (e.g., due to the cost of parts), standard diagnostic fees or minimum hourly labour rates will still apply.
  • The policy does not apply to Data Recovery services, which are subject to separate diagnostic terms, nor does it apply to software issues caused by third-party services outside of our control (e.g., an ISP outage).

3. Pricing, Billing & Travel Surcharges

  • Hourly Rates: Our standard mobile IT support is billed in 30-minute increments after the first minimum hour.
  • Fixed Quotes: For hardware replacements (e.g., laptop screens, motherboards), we provide a fixed-price quote covering both parts and labour. This quote is valid for 7 days.
  • Travel Fees: We do not charge call-out fees for standard Metro Canberra suburbs. However, a flat-rate travel surcharge applies to extended regional areas (e.g., Bungendore, Murrumbateman) to cover additional driving time and fuel. This is always quoted prior to dispatch.
  • Payment Terms: Payment is strictly due upon completion of the service. We accept EFTPOS, major credit cards, and direct bank transfers. Hardware parts must be paid for upfront before we order them from our suppliers.

4. Warranties and Guarantees

We stand behind the quality of our work and the parts we supply:

  • Hardware Warranty: All new hardware parts supplied and installed by Tech Fixer come with a minimum 12-month manufacturer’s warranty against defects.
  • Workmanship Guarantee: We provide a 30-day guarantee on our labour. If the original issue reoccurs within 30 days due to our workmanship, we will rectify it free of charge.
  • Exclusions: Warranties do not cover subsequent accidental damage (e.g., dropping a newly installed screen), liquid damage, power surges, or software issues caused by user action or third-party updates (e.g., re-infecting a PC with a virus).

5. Data Loss Liability

While we take every possible precaution to protect your data, repairing electronic devices carries inherent risks. Tech Fixer is not liable for any loss of data, photos, emails, or software.

It is solely the client’s responsibility to ensure that all critical data is backed up prior to our technician arriving or before handing over the device. If requested, our technicians can perform a data backup service prior to repair for an additional fee.

6. Abandoned Devices

If a device is left with us for repair in our lab and is not collected (or the invoice remains unpaid) for a period of 60 days after we have notified the client that it is ready, the device will be considered abandoned. Tech Fixer reserves the right to securely wipe all data and recycle or sell the device to recover unpaid service costs, in accordance with the Uncollected Goods Act 1996 (ACT).
