Printer & Smart Home
Setup in Canberra
Tired of fighting with “smart” devices that refuse to connect? From wireless printers that constantly go offline to confusing Smart TVs and Google Home speakers, our patient mobile technicians will get everything connected and teach you how to use it.
Making Technology Actually Work
You bought these devices to make your life easier, not more stressful. We strip away the confusing manuals, untangle the cables, and seamlessly integrate your tech ecosystem.
Wireless Printer Fixes
Is your Canon, Brother, or HP printer constantly saying “Offline”? We fix IP conflicts, install the correct drivers, configure scan-to-email, and ensure you can print seamlessly from your iPad or phone.
Smart TV & Soundbars
We unbox and configure your new Samsung, LG, or Hisense TV. We’ll connect it to the WiFi, log you into Netflix and streaming apps, and sync your soundbar via HDMI ARC or Optical cables.
Google Nest & Alexa Setup
We set up smart speakers and displays (Google Assistant, Amazon Echo, Apple HomePod), linking them to your Spotify or Apple Music accounts, and teaching you the best voice commands.
Chromecast & Apple TV
We install media streaming dongles and teach you exactly how to “cast” videos, photos, or zoom calls directly from your smartphone or tablet onto the big screen.
Wireless Security Cameras
Need help getting your Ring Doorbell or Arlo wireless cameras online? We configure the base stations, connect them to your WiFi, and set up the mobile alerts on your phone.
Smart Lights & Plugs
We link smart lighting (like Philips Hue) and smart plugs to your home network, allowing you to control your lamps, fans, and appliances directly from your smartphone.
We Teach You
We don’t just plug it in and run. We sit with you and patiently show you how to use your new devices.
No Jargon
We explain how things work in plain English. No confusing acronyms, no making you feel silly.
Secure Setup
We change default passwords on smart home devices to ensure hackers can’t access your cameras.
Network Fixing
A smart home is only as good as its WiFi. We fix the underlying network issues causing dropouts.
Patient, Friendly Tech Support for Seniors & Families
We believe technology should empower you, not make you feel frustrated. Many of our clients in Canberra are retirees or busy families who simply don’t have the time to decipher 100-page manuals or sit on hold with overseas manufacturer support.
When you book Tech Fixer, you are hiring a local, friendly expert who takes the time to write down step-by-step instructions for you, ensuring you are 100% confident operating your new TV, printer, or iPad before we leave.
Device Setup FAQs
Why does my wireless printer keep saying it is offline?
This is the most common call we get. It usually happens when your home WiFi router restarts and assigns a new, temporary “IP address” to the printer. Your computer is still looking for the old address. We fix this permanently by diving into your router settings and assigning a “Static IP” to your printer, so it never loses connection again.
My smart TV buffers constantly on Netflix. Can you fix it?
Yes. TV buffering is rarely a problem with the TV itself; it is usually a weak WiFi signal reaching the living room. We can troubleshoot your network, optimize your router’s wireless channels, or install a modern Mesh WiFi system to guarantee 4K streaming without the annoying loading circles.
Do you mount TVs to the wall?
While we are experts at the electronic and software setup of Smart TVs (connecting them to WiFi, apps, soundbars, and antennas), we do not provide physical wall-mounting or drilling services into plasterboard/brick. We recommend having a handyman mount the bracket first, and we will happily handle all the cabling and tech configuration afterward.
